Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said his offense is running vanilla stuff, but still no excuse for scoring zero points on the last 17 drives. "No doubt about it, and that's something that we're going to address as a coaching staff," Lynn said. "We want to be more explosive and more dynamic not matter what we're running."

Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said the "Mike" LB (Nick Dzubnar) failed to get over the top of his block on the 50-yard TD run by New Orleans RB Alvin Kamara. "He's not the only on to make a play, but that's where the hole came from," Lynn said.

Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said Kellen Clemens remains his team's No. 2 quarterback over Cardale Jones. "Cardale's learning," Lynn said. "He's been here 2 ½ weeks, but he's not there yet."

Chargers announce attendance for Saints' game was 21,197, slightly more than the 21,054 for Seahawks last week.

The Saints' defense – yes, the Saints' defense -- dominated from start to finish in a 13-7 victory over the Chargers on Sunday that finally snapped New Orleans' 10-game preseason losing streak. This is the second straight impressive performance for the Saints' starting defense, which is once again the biggest question mark on the team. New linebackers A.J. Klein, Manti Te'o and Alex Anzalone all stood out, among others, as the Saints had eight sacks (five in the first half) and held L.A. to zero offensive points and 158 total net yards.

From the "life comes at you fast" department, this tweet from the Bills' account Aug. 8 is a reminder of how much has changed in 12 days. Anquan Boldin retired Sunday, while Sammy Watkins was traded Aug. 11.

The Saints' chances of finally ending their 10-game preseason losing streak are in jeopardy after a 99-yard pick-6 by Chargers safety Dexter McCoil. Former Giants backup QB Ryan Nassib, who is trying to earn a roster spot as the Saints' No. 3 QB, threw the pass slightly behind WR Tommylee Lewis (but still arguably catchable). The Saints' lead is now down to 10-7 midway through the fourth quarter.

Since the start of the second half last week against the Seattle Seahawks, the Chargers have not scored -- that's 16 straight drives without a point.

Josh McCown, the former Cardinals quarterback who's now with the Jets, to me on former teammate Anquan Boldin: "He's a special person. One of the best teammates I've ever had. Most competitive yet gracious and humble guys I played with. Makes those he's around better and I have no doubt he will continue to do that throughout the rest of his life."

Bills GM Brandon Beane's statement on retirement Sunday of Anquan Boldin: "We respect Anquan's decision to retire from the NFL. We appreciate the time he gave us over the past two weeks. He is one of the best receivers to play this game and wish him and his family all the best moving forward."

Former Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner to me on former teammate Anquan Boldin, who told ESPN's Jim Trotter he will retire from the NFL after 14 seasons: "Anquan on the field, was one of the greatest professionals & competitors I ever had the pleasure of playing with! With all the great players I shared a field with, Q is one of top 2 players I would want with the ball in their hands and the game on the line! I am a better player for having played with him. But more importantly, he is one of the greatest people I was able to meet in my time in NFL! He has a heart to be a great husband, father & philanthropist - and is committed to making sure his legacy goes well beyond the fball field!"
