Carson Wentz launching himself into MVP conversation.
Safety DJ. Swearinger marveled at Carson Wentz's arm strength. On the long TD pass,Swearinger said he bit hard on the deep out because that's the hardest for the safety to defend in the cover-4 look. He wanted to take it away. Wentz sold it with a pump fake. Swearinger was then beaten.
Malcolm Jenkins asked to describe Carson Wentz in one word. "Magic," he said.
Redskins right guard Brandon Scherff will undergo an MRI on his knee Tuesday. He was walking around OK in the locker room though he did have a slight limp. He sprained his MCL.
Carson Wentz leads the league in touchdown passes, and the Eagles are on top of the league. The second-year signal caller is playing the position better than anyone in the NFC now that Aaron Rodgers is sideline with a broken collarbone. Having completed the sweep of Washington, they are in great position in division, and the conference.
The Redskins just couldn't stop Carson Wentz, who was a major difference maker. Kirk Cousins was good, save for one throw under duress. Wentz was terrific and made plays happen all night. The Redskins continue to suffer key injuries and it played a role in what happened Monday. However, a defense that kept giving up big plays to Wentz was the difference.
Carson Wentz, through the Philadelphia Eagles' first seven games of the past two seasons: 2016: 95.04 fantasy points 2017: 151.68 fantasy points (2nd in the league)
Another Jordan Reed TD catch in the red zone. He runs the slant route like a WR. Footwork at the break to separate. That gives Reed 64 yards receiving and two touchdowns on eight catches.
Nelson Agholor TD catch on the inside seam route. And a good call from the Eagles in the red zone. Release Zach Ertz across the face of the safety. That's going to hold the safety and open a window for Carson Wentz to deliver the ball. Agholor is now up to 45 yards receiving on four receptions.
Washington coach Jay Gruden said this week that he is "very upset" Carson Wentz ended up in Philly. Easy to see why. Wentz just threw his fourth touchdown of the game to put Washington on the ropes. He is playing at a ridiculous level right now.
Jordan Reed TD on the quick slant route in the red zone. Even with a good break from the DB in coverage, Reed had leverage from the jump. The Redskins TE now has five receptions for 37 yards.
Jordan Reed caught a combined 17 touchdown passes the last two seasons, but needed until the sixth game of 2017 to record his first. He needs to be more of a red zone presence the rest of the season.
Third down remains a major issue for Washington vs. Philadelphia this season. The Redskins converted three-of-11 in the first meeting and have missed on seven of their first eight tonight.
Great example from Carson Wentz on how to navigate a muddy pocket. Step up, work through the traffic and deliver a TD pass while taking a hit. Wentz is so strong in the pocket.
Even more impressive than his obvious command of the offense is Wentz's ability to operate when things aren't perfect. Stunning touchdown throw to the RB on third down while the defense was swallowing him whole. This has to be the reason he's so good so soon. Not just a lack of fear, but a star's ability to keep his head in situations where others can't.
It's overly simplistic to say Jason Peters is not a replaceable player for the Eagles. His ability to dominate both at the line of scrimmage and at the second level are vital to both the passing game and the run game. Hall of Fame caliber player still playing at that level in 2017.
At the half, Eagles TE Zach Ertz has two catches for 50 yards and a TD. And the score came on a quick flat route in the deep red zone. Make the grab and shake the tackle to get six points.
Eagles TE Zach Ertz establishes a new career high in touchdowns (5) with a four-yard score right before the half to put the home team on top. The Philly offense started rolling in the last couple series thanks in part to Ertz, who led all tight ends in receptions and yards entering Week 7.
Longtime Eagles LS Jon Dorenbos is in attendance and was just shown on the Jumbotron, drawing a loud ovation. Dorenbos is recovering from heart surgery after a condition was found by Saints medical staff following trade to New Orleans.
The Eagles used a deep double-move on the 64-yard TD pass from Carson Wentz to Mack Hollins. Free release at the line of scrimmage. Sell the corner route and then stem back up the field on the vertical. That gave Hollins a matchup vs. the safety in the deep half.
A perfect deep ball from Carson Wentz pulled in by rookie WR Mack Hollins for a 64-yard TD, finished off with the Eagles baseball celebration in the end zone. They got the long ball going.
The Eagles busted a coverage on the Chris Thompson TD grab, but that route is designed to pick the inside linebacker. Align in Trips, run an inside breaking route (pick) and release the RB to the flat.
Loss of LB Jordan Hicks a major factor already. Replacement Najee Goode did not pick up Chris Thompson on a pass along the left side, leading to an easy score. Redskins are racking up big plays against a banged-up Eagles' defense.
Free agent defensive end Dwight Freeney will visit the Seahawks on Tuesday, a source tells ESPN's Dan Graziano. Seattle has a need at that position and an open roster spot after placing starter Cliff Avril on injured reserve. The 37-year-old Freeney is 18th on the all-time sack list with 122.5. He spent last season with Atlanta, recording three sacks over 15 games as a rotational player. Sports Radio 950 KJR in Seattle first reporter Freeney's scheduled visit.
Eagles LB Jordan Hicks (ankle) has been downgraded to OUT.
