The Patriots waived DT Anthony Johnson on Monday. He is a strong candidate to return to the practice squad if he clears waivers. In addition, safety Vinnie Sunseri was waived from the practice squad.

On his quarterbacks, 49ers coach Chip Kelly indicated that Colin Kaepernick will get another start against New Orleans when his team comes back after the bye week. Kelly pointed out that he and the coaching staff will discuss all their options as they always do but also said "I don't envision making changes at the quarterback spot."

The Eagles claimed DT Taylor Hart off waivers from San Francisco to fill the roster spot of cornerback Ron Brooks, who was placed on IR. They also signed CB Aaron Grymes to the practice squad.

49ers coach Chip Kelly said of the five players who suffered injuries of varying degrees on Sunday that OLB Aaron Lynch and CB Rashard Robinson were the most concerning. Lynch has a high ankle sprain and Robinson has a sprained MCL in his knee. There's no timetable for a return for either. The Niners have a bye this week and the players are off until next Tuesday.

Asked about the rumors that LT Joe Staley is available for trade, 49ers coach Chip Kelly said "That's news to me. We need Joe here." Kelly pointed out that while he's not in charge of the roster, he also hasn't been part of any conversations involving Staley. He also said he hasn't talked to Staley about the report mentioning his name that came out Sunday night. "I don't make a habit of talking to guys about erroneous reports," Kelly said.
