Bears to face Ravens in Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 2

NFL, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens

In a matchup of franchises with incoming Pro Football Hall of Famers, the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens will play in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 2 in Canton, Ohio. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.

Former Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis and former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher will be induced into the Hall of Fame on Aug. 4 with the rest of the class of 2018.

Since 2014, the Hall of Fame Game has featured teams that represent an inductee that year.

This will mark the second straight year that the Hall of Fame Game will be played on a Thursday night and not on a Sunday. It will kick off a weekend of events that includes the class of 2018 being honored during a gold jacket dinner on Friday and the formal enshrinement ceremony at the stadium on Saturday.

Bobby Beathard, Robert Brazile, Brian Dawkins, Jerry Kramer, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens will join Lewis and Urlacher in this year's class.

Urlacher, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and the league's Defensive Player of the Year in 2005, is the first Bear to be enshrined since 2011 and the 28th in franchise history, the most of any team.

Lewis was a 13-time Pro Bowl selection, two-time Defensive Player of the Year and a Super Bowl MVP. Lewis started 227 games in his career and was credited with eight 100-tackle seasons.

The Bears are 4-0 in the Hall of Fame Game, which they last played in in 2005. The Ravens are making their first appearance in the league's opening preseason game. The last time an NFL team from Baltimore played in the Hall of Fame Game was 1982, when the Colts played the Vikings two years before their move to Indianapolis.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys are tied for the most appearances in the Hall of Fame Game, with six, while the Washington Redskins have the most wins (5-0).
