Jaguars release injured Steven Wesley

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived injured defensive end Steven Wesley.

Wesley and the team reached an injury settlement, meaning he will not revert to Jacksonville's injured reserve if he clears waivers.

Wesley, an undrafted rookie who played three seasons at Miami before transferring to North Alabama, sprained a knee ligament in the preseason opener at New England on Aug. 11 and has been on crutches since.

The Jaguars now have 84 players on their roster. NFL teams must reduce rosters to 80 by Tuesday afternoon.
