Adrian Peterson returns for Vikings

MINNEAPOLIS -- Adrian Peterson was active for the Vikings' 42-20 loss to the New Orleans Saints, who were missing running back Mark Ingram for the second straight week with turf toe.

Peterson ran for 60 yards in his return to Minnesota's lineup after missing three straight games with a sprained left ankle. He was listed as probable on Friday, as was rookie quarterback Christian Ponder, who started after being hampered the last two weeks with a hip pointer.

Ponder finished 14 of 31 for 120 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's loss.

Ingram has rushed for 474 yards and five touchdowns in his first season after the Saints chose the Heisman Trophy winner in the first round out of Alabama. He missed last week's game against the Titans as well.

Saints linebacker Jonathan Casillas also was out with a right knee injury.
