Terrell Suggs says he's off crutches

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs announced he has taken his biggest step in coming back from Achilles surgery.

"No more crutches! Beasting...," Suggs posted on his Facebook page Tuesday morning.

Suggs was scheduled to meet with team doctors in Baltimore on Monday so they could examine his surgically repaired tendon. He is expected to begin his rehab at the team's facility if the scar is fully healed.

The NFL's Defensive Player of the Year last season, Suggs partially tore his Achilles tendon at the end of April and had surgery on May 8. He has repeatedly said he will play this season and believes he will return sometime around midseason.

Suggs is coming off a season in which he set a career high with 14 sacks and a franchise record with seven forced fumbles. He went to the Pro Bowl in consecutive seasons for the first time in his career.

The Ravens start their mandatory minicamp Tuesday afternoon, where Paul Kruger will continue to play at Suggs' rush linebacker spot.
