TAMPA, Fla. -- Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano was back with his team Monday after tending to a family medical emergency after Sunday's loss to New England.
Schiano said his father took ill during the game. Schiano said he stayed with his father until other family members were able to arrive and then flew back to Tampa.
Schiano wouldn't elaborate on his father's condition and said tests still are being performed.
The Bucs fell to 0-3 with Sunday's 23-3 road loss to the Patriots.
Schiano has come under fire this season, his second with the Buccaneers. Cornerback Darrelle Revis reportedly was unhappy with Schiano's disciplined style, although the star cornerback publicly refuted those reports this past week.
Josh Freeman also reportedly was unhappy with Schiano following a report that the coach manipulated voting results to prevent the quarterback from being a team captain. Freeman, however, also has publicly defended Schiano.
