Asante Samuel returns to game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Atlanta Falcons veteran defensive back Asante Samuel returned for the second half of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers after being evaluated for a possible head injury.

Samuel was taken to the locker room near the end of the first half and was listed as questionable to return.

But he was cleared medically and returned in the second half.

Samuel was pushed out of bounds while defending a pass late in the second quarter. He remained on the ground for a second before walking to the sideline under his own power.

Samuel was then transported to the locker room for evaluation.

With Samuel out, the Falcons inserted Robert McClain as the extra defensive back, along with rookie cornerbacks Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford.
