Gary Kubiak returning to sideline

HOUSTON -- Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Wednesday that he intends to coach from the sideline Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Kubiak has coached the past two games from the press box on doctor's orders. He suffered a transient ischemic attack, or "mini-stroke," on Nov. 3 while walking off the field at halftime of the Texans' 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips took over as interim coach when the Texans visited the Arizona Cardinals the next week. When Kubiak returned to coaching the following week, his doctors limited his hours. He coached from the press box during home games against the Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Texans (2-9) are on a nine-game losing streak, the longest in franchise history.
