Vegas likes Raiders in AFC West

Oakland claimed a share of the division title last season for the first time since 2002. The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook likes the Raiders in a close race in 2017.

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio's idea for overtime in the NFL? Pattern it after the college football model. "The way that New England went down and scored, I would have liked to have seen Marty Ice get an opportunity to answer," Del Rio said of Super Bowl LI. "I like the idea of both teams having a chance. But again, whatever the rules are, we'll play within those rules. We understand what they are. We'll be prepared to go." The NFL changed OT from 15 minutes to 10 minutes on Tuesday. Had the rule been in effect last season, the Raiders would have had a 24-24 tie at Tampa Bay and gone 11-4-1 since Seth Roberts' 41-yard catch-and-run TD came 13:15 into OT.

Raiders' best acquisition: Marshawn Lynch

Even if his tank is three-fourths full after a year off in retirement, Lynch adds some much-needed physicality to a running game that was already the No. 6-ranked attack last season.

Sebastian Janikowski and Marshawn Lynch share a laugh during stretch. Lynch, for what it's worth, is the lone player not wearing a helmet.

"It means we go to the league meetings in Chicago with a lease and hopefully get it approved and stay on pace for a 2020 opening (in Las Vegas)." - Raiders president Marc Badain, on what the Las Vegas Stadium Authority approving a conditional lease agreement with the Raiders means for the team's pending relocation to Southern Nevada.

With the Raiders hoping to lock up quarterback Derek Carr with a lucrative contract extension this offseason - reports have Carr in line for an Andrew Luck-type payday after the Colts QB got a $25 million a year deal last summer - Pro Football Focus compared the 2016 seasons of both Carr and Luck. The Raiders, who have exercised the fifth-year option on defensive player of the year Khalil Mack for 2018, also want to extend right guard Gabe Jackson, and they need to sign their nine-man draft class. The Raiders have an estimated $32 million in cap space.
