34-year old Bears TE Zach Miller announced his retirement in a statement on Instagram. He missed the entire 2018 season after dislocating his left knee in a Week 8 game against the Saints on Oct. 29, 2017. He was carted off the field and rushed to University Medical Center New Orleans. He needed emergency vascular surgery to repair a damaged artery in the leg. "The time has come to move on from playing the game of football," Miller said. "It has been an incredible journey for myself and my entire family and we can't thank you enough for your continued support."

The Chicago Bears will host the Green Bay Packers in the 2019 NFL opener at Soldier Field on Sept. 5. This will be the second consecutive year the Packers and Bears have met in their respective season openers. Last year, the Packers rallied from 17-0 deficit to win 24-23 at Lambeau Field. Including playoffs, the Packers and Bears franchises have met 198 times, the most common matchup in NFL history. The Packers own a 97-95-6 edge in the series. The Bears won the last meeting between the two teams last season, and haven't won consecutive games against the Packers since 2007.

The Bears re-signed third-string quarterback Tyler Bray to a one-year contract Wednesday. Bray has a long history with Bears coach Matt Nagy, having spent five seasons with him in Kansas City before moving over to Chicago in 2018.
