Is it time for Mitch Trubisky in Chicago?

The Bears paid Mike Glennon a lot of money to shore things up at QB, but his résumé looks like that of a below-average starter or top-end backup. Among 37 QBs with at least 20 starts since 2013, Glennon ranks near the bottom in several key categories.

The Bears decline to provide any further updates on the health of ILB Nick Kwiatkoski (pectoral), running back Jordan Howard (shoulder) or guard Josh Sitton (ribs). All three players left Sunday's game vs. Tampa and did not return.

Bears coach John Fox reiterates to reporters at Halas Hall that quarterback Mike Glennon -- not second overall pick Mitchell Trubisky -- will start Sunday vs. Pittsburgh.

Teams in the dreaded 0-2 hole

The road to the playoffs has already gotten much tougher for the 49ers, Bears, Bengals, Browns, Chargers, Colts, Jets and Saints. Since the postseason field expanded to 12 in 1990, just 12 percent of teams to start 0-2 have made the playoffs.

Jordan Howard disappears from Bears' offense

Jordan Howard -- the NFL's second-leading rusher last season as a rookie -- was a complete nonfactor in the Bears' ugly 29-7 loss the Bucs.

Fox: Bears sticking with Glennon despite rout

Bears coach John Fox said he's not planning on benching quarterback Mike Glennon in favor of rookie Mitchell Trubisky, despite the blowout loss to the Buccaneers.

Jeff Dickerson ESPN Staff Writer

The Bears biggest worry is that their season is over. For the third consecutive year, the Bears have an 0-2 record going into Week 3. And the schedule doesn't get any easier. The Bears host the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday, and then travel to Green Bay on a short week for Thursday night football. Chicago already had three starters on injured reserve going into Sunday, and three more starters were unable to finish the Bears' 29-7 loss to Tampa.

ESPN Stats and Information

This is the Bears 3rd straight season starting 0-2. The last time they started 0-2 in 3 straight seasons was from 1965 to 1969 (5 in row).

The Bears say they're sticking with QB Mike Glennon, but it's easy to argue that rookie Mitchell Trubisky gives Chicago the best shot to win.

September woes continue for Saints, Bears

Neither New Orleans nor Chicago has won a game in the month of September since Week 3 of the 2014 season. They share the NFL's longest active losing streak in the month (nine games) after both fell Sunday. (Elias Sports Bureau)

Winston, Buccaneers' defense shine in 29-7 rout of Bears

Jameis Winston threw for 204 yards and one touchdown Sunday, helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers return from an unscheduled bye week forced by Hurricane Irma to open the season with a 29-7 rout of the mistake-prone Chicago Bears.

The Bears have started 0-2 for the 3rd straight year -- the first time that's happened since the 1960s. John Fox probably wants to burn the tape of this one. Nothing went right for the beleaguered Bears, who committed four turnovers and lost a slew of players to injuries.

Bears RG Josh Sitton is out with a rib injury. Right now, the Bears have Bradley Sowell at LG, Hroniss Grasu at center and Cody Whitehair at RG.

Bears DL Akiem Hicks walks off the field with members of the training staff.

Bears fans have suffered through a lot of bad football under head coach John Fox (soon-to-be 9-25 in Chicago), but Sunday's first half in Tampa ranks up there with some of the worst performances in the Fox era. The Bears turned the ball over four times and rushed for 16 yards on 14 carries on offense.

Jeff Dickerson ESPN Staff Writer

Bears ILB Nick Kwiatkoski (pectoral) and LG Tom Compton (hip) have been ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

That's a poor throw from Bears QB Mike Glennon on Robert McClain's pick-six. Out route. Can't leave the ball behind the WR. That's going the other way almost every time. And it's the second INT Glennon has thrown in the first half.
