Lions GM Bob Quinn told the team website top pick Jarrad Davis will play middle linebacker. Initially it was not clear whether or not Davis would be the MIKE or WILL. This throws the future of incumbent MIKE LB Tahir Whitehead into flux. Whitehead is in the final year of his deal and could compete at both the SAM and WILL spots, too.

Couple of interesting thoughts on the Lions draft: No running backs and no safeties. Wouldn't be surprised to see both positions addressed in priority free agency. This should make Ameer Abdullah the clear No. 1 back in 2017 unless a free agent comes in to push him.
