Packers' Family Night is sold out. The team said they've distributed more than 78,000 for the Aug. 5 practice at Lambeau. That's right, 78,000 for a practice. It's the 11th time in 17 years the event has sold out.

Clay Matthews and Mike McCarthy presented with hats from members of the Navy's USS Green Bay crew after practice.

Martellus Bennett looked OK in the 2-minute drill. Caught a 13-yard TD with no time left.

It took only one day for top pick Kevin King to get his turn with the starters. He's at right cornerback in the 2-minute drill in place of LaDarius Gunter. Davon House is the other outside corner with Quinten Rollins in the slot.

Tight end Martellus Bennett walked off the field and went inside with a member of the medical staff but has returned to the field.

Big emphasis on QB footwork at Packers camp, even for a veteran like Aaron Rodgers.

Big emphasis on ball security, especially with the young running back group that "obviously had the ball on the ground too much," coach Mike McCarthy said.

For the second straight summer, the Packers are using the tackling donuts. That's LB Jake Ryan hitting the moving target.

Aaron Rodgers came out to the practice field with his arm around rookie RB Aaron Jones (33). Rodgers is going to have to spend a lot of time getting the young backs up to his speed with the offense.

Expect Jordy Nelson to play both in the slot and outside again. "His ability to play inside and outside is what took Jordy Nelson to next level," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said CB Herb Waters hurt his shoulder again. Same injury he had in OTAs. ‬Waters, a converted receiver, had drawn praise from cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt.

Packers bike into practice (0:33)

Overheard: "We don't have any motorized tackling dummies or anything like that. They wanted to have a unit where they threw water balloons at the media, but I said, nah. I wasn't for it." – Packers coach Mike McCarthy to the media before the first training camp practice.

Rookie report: The Packers are easing top pick Kevin King into things. After he missed most of the offseason program because his school (Washington) was still in session, the second-round cornerback worked mostly with the No. 2 defense on Day 1. "Mentally, I know Kevin's ready go," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. It may not be long before King moves his way in with the starters but for now, Davon House and LaDarius Gunter took the first-team reps.

Best play of Packers' camp Day 1: The Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams connection that took off last season was on display early. Rodgers delivered a perfect deep ball to Adams, who had beaten cornerback LaDarius Gunter on a go route. Adams barely had to outstretch for the ball that he caught in stride for a 60-yard touchdown. Gunter's biggest weakness is speed, and it showed when he let Adams beat get behind him.
