Jaguars LB Telvin Smith said it has been weird to be on the field without Paul Posluszny, who retired in March, next to him. Smith said he still feels Posluszny's presence, though. "Because everybody still talks about him," Smith said. "Like, 'What would he do in this situation? Poz would say this, or Poz would do that.' So we're still talking about him just like he's here."

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings will have two days of joint training camp practices in Minnesota leading up to the preseason game between the teams in August, the Jaguars announced Thursday morning. The teams will practice Aug. 15 and 16 at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and then play at 1 p.m. ET Aug. 18 at U.S. Bank Stadium. That will be the second preseason game for both teams. The Jaguars have held joint training camp practices with Tampa Bay the last two years and also had joint practices with the New England Patriots last year.

Jacoby: Bortles is no hero (1:51)

You may be surprised by what Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said are the most important things he wants to see from the team's draft picks (DT Taven Bryan and WR DJ Chark): "I'm not looking for the competition part. I want them to be coachable and available. I don't want to see a little thing. I don't want to see them in the training room. I want to see them paying attention. I want to see them at the front of the line. I want to see what type of leadership they have. Those are the things I'm looking for and basically, to be honest with you, are they good listeners? I don't want to get into, ‘Hey, they need to keep their mouths shut.' Can they listen?' … I've always tried to advise those players, ‘hey, just listen first.' And I tell a story I learned a long time ago: God gave you two ears and one mouth so you listen twice as much as you talk. I believe that's what smart people do."

First-round pick Taven Bryan was pretty pumped up after the on-field part of the first day of the Jaguars' rookie minicamp. "It's awesome," he said. "It's awesome to be able to dedicate 100 percent of your time [to football]. There's only 24 hours in a day and you get to spend 16 doing football, so it's pretty sweet. I mean, it's like the ideal job in my opinion."

The Jaguars announced the signings of fourth-round draft pick OL Will Richardson, sixth-round pick QB Tanner Lee, and seventh-round picks LB Leon Jacobs and P Logan Cooke.
