Patriots' D. McCourty says he's not ready to retire

Although he contemplated retiring if the Patriots won the Super Bowl, safety Devin McCourty, 31, told the Sports Spectrum podcast that he's going to return for a 10th season with New England.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus was a guest on ESPN's NFL Live on Tuesday and was asked about the career plans of his client, Rob Gronkowski. "I checked in with Gronk a couple of days ago. I talked with the Patriots about it," Rosenhaus told host Wendi Nix. "I don't want to put any pressure on him and give him a time-frame. But I imagine it will be some time in the next couple of weeks."

Kap 'absolutely' still wants to play, lawyer says

Attorney Mark Geragos said he believes the Panthers and Patriots are two potential landing spots for his client, Colin Kaepernick, who still "absolutely wants to play" in the NFL.

The Patriots are hiring Youngstown State offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo to a yet-to-be-announced position on Bill Belichick's coaching staff, the Vindicator newspaper reports. The team had five assistant coaches depart after Super Bowl LIII, and thus has some spots to fill. Bricillo joins Mick Lombardi among those newcomers to the staff in 2019.

The Patriots have signed reserve C/G Brian Schwenke to a one-year, $895,000 extension through 2019, according to ESPN's Field Yates. Schwenke was active for 3 games in 2018. Alongside Ted Karras, he added experience/depth behind starters David Andrews (C), Shaq Mason (RG) and Joe Thuney (LG).

As Bill Belichick fills out some of the vacancies on his staff this offseason, the expectation is that Mick Lombardi will be one of the additions. Lombardi spent the 2011-2012 seasons in New England as a scouting assistant/coaching assistant. He then went on to work for the 49ers and Jets as a coaching assistant who elevated to assistant QBs coach in his final seasons in New York.

Orlovsky doesn't expect Patriots to 'load up' at WR (1:03)

Patriots DL coach Brendan Daly is departing to join the Chiefs' staff. Daly, whose contract expired after the season, was with the Patriots the last five seasons. Daly, whose wife has ties to the Kansas City area, spoke highly of his time with the Patriots over the last five years. Daly's decision was first reported by the Boston Globe.

The Patriots had three members of their coaching staff leave to be part of Brian Flores' staff in Miami. Longtime cornerbacks coach Josh Boyer will be the Dolphins' defensive passing-game coordinator/cornerbacks coach; longtime wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea will be Miami's offensive coordinator; and assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski will have the same title for the Dolphins.
