Jets owner Woody Johnson on Nick Mangold, the longest-tenured Jet: "For the past 11 years, Nick Mangold has been a cornerstone of our team both on and off the field. As our Pro Bowl center, Nick consistently demonstrated superior skill and unmatched toughness. Equally important, off the field, Nick exhibited respect, sensitivity and compassion for the causes he supported. It has been a privilege to have known Nick these many years and, for all of us, I say Nick will always be a Jet."

No surprise here: The Jets are in full housecleaning mode. They're dumping salary and trying to get younger. Nick Mangold, 33, had a $9.1 million cap charge in the final year of his contract. The entire amount will be cleared from the cap. Mangold, one of the most accomplished players in team history, was respected from the moment he walked in the door in 2006. But he missed eight games last season due to an ankle injury that didn't heal as quickly as he had hoped. You're up, Wesley Johnson. Good luck.

Jets C Nick Mangold, their longest tenured player, announced on Twitter that "my time as a New York has come to an end." Ending an era. A $9.1 million cap savings for the Jets.

The New York Jets created $7.5 million in much-needed cap space on Thursday by releasing longtime kicker Nick Folk and right tackle Breno Giacomini.

The Jets have released PK Nick Folk and RT Breno Giacomini, creating $7.5 million in much-needed cap room. Folk, who joined the Jets in 2010, is the second-leading scorer in franchise history (729 points), behind only Pat Leahy. "It's a sad day, but that's the business side of things," Folk said. "I had a great seven years here. I think the only thing that would've topped it off would'e been a couple of Super Bowl wins." Giacomini, who played in only five games last season, is recovering from recent back surgery.

An Allegheny County (Pa.) judge has modified the conditions of Darrelle Revis' bond, allowing the Jets' cornerback to travel outside the U.S. for a charity event. The court ruled last Friday at the arraignment that Revis, facing four felony charges for his alleged role in a street fight, would have to surrender his passport. His attorney, Robert Del Greco, filed a petition, requesting that Revis be allowed to travel to Turks and Caicos Islands next month for his Revis Island Foundation. The charity, established in 2012, provides meals for underprivileged families, per court papers. After the event, March 23-28, Revis will return to his Florida home to train for the NFL season, his attorney said.

Mike Glennon at QB for Jets in 2017?

The NFL's quarterback carousel is just starting to get going, but it's never too early to peer into our crystal ball. Tony Romo doesn't make sense on an aging Jets roster, but Glennon looks like a fit.
