Bucs wide receiver DeSean Jackson and mother Gayle share a special moment with pal D.J. Myers, who credits Jackson for inspiring him in his recovery from paralysis. Their friendship began with a video message from Jackson right after the accident last year and grew when Jackson invited Myers and his mother to practice this summer. The Bucs' 26-23 win Sunday may have come against the Cleveland Browns and not an offensive juggernaut like the Atlanta Falcons, but some of the changes made under new defensive coordinator Mark Duffner indicate that things could be headed in the right direction.

Relief for Catanzaro after record OT FG lifts Bucs

Chandler Catanzaro's record 59-yard overtime field goal to give Tampa Bay a 26-23 win over Cleveland brought a huge sigh of relief from the Bucs kicker after he had a chance to win it in regulation but missed a 40-yard attempt.

Source: Bucs fear LB Alexander tore ACL in win

Buccaneers linebacker Kwon Alexander is believed to have a torn ACL stemming from an injury sustained in Sunday's win over the Browns, a source says.

The Bucs do fear that it's a torn ACL for linebacker Kwon Alexander, according to a source. He'll undergo an MRI tomorrow to be sure.

Winston calls Catanzaro's 59-yd field goal to win 'immaculate' (0:41)

Favorites are now 5-4 so far in Week 7, after Bucs (-3.5) beat Browns 26-23 in OT on a 59-yard FG.

The Bucs beat the Browns 26-23 in overtime on a 59-yard field goal after Chandler Catanzaro missed a 40-yard game-winner in regulation, and a PAT earlier. This was a really sloppy second half, the Bucs turned the ball over four times and there was questionable play-calling, but credit Dirk Koetter for keeping faith in his kicker. Granted he had no choice at that point — he would have risked losing or tying had they punted — but still.

We're going to OT here in Tampa after Chandler Catanzaro misses a 40-yard field goal. He also missed a PAT earlier today. That inside handoff to Jacquizz Rodgers with the clock winding down was a very questionable call. Rodgers hasn't been getting yardage after contact, he hasn't shown much explosiveness and it didn't do their struggling kicker any favors.

The Bucs are razor-thin at linebacker now, with Jack Cichy suffering a knee injury and out for the remainder of the game. Cichy missed his final year at Wisconsin with a torn ACL.

With Kwon Alexander out, Adarius Taylor moves to middle linebacker and rookie Jack Cichy moves to the SAM spot.

Bucs middle linebacker Kwon Alexander is out for the remainder of the game with a knee injury. It was a non-contact injury he sustained just before halftime where he planted his foot and then went right to the ground.

Granted this has been against the Cleveland Browns, not an offensive powerhouse, but the Bucs' defense has held them to just 1-for-8 on third downs and 74 total yards of offense -- a stellar first half for new defensive coordinator Mark Duffner as the Bucs lead 16-2. Some new wrinkles (early blitzes with defensive backs, dropping Carl Nassib into coverage) and there haven't been any noticeable breakdowns. That's encouraging.

Jackson escapes for 14-yard TD (0:23)

The Bucs looked like they were running to the right but ran an end-around with DeSean Jackson for a 14-hard touchdown to make it 9-2 (Chandler Catanzaro missed his PAT) at the beginning of the second quarter. I felt Jackson's speed was under-utilized last year by only running vertical routes and they should use him more as a gadget player. That's one way to do it.

Not really sure why the Bucs ran a stretch play in their own end zone. Should have done something to get the ball out quickly. Their first possession resulted in a safety for the Browns and forced their defense back out onto the field.

A safety blitz on third down resulted in a sack for Jason Pierre-Paul on the first possession of the game. Mark Duffner also dialed up a nickel blitz on that series. Lack of blitzing and pressure was one area that previous defensive coordinator Mike Smith was criticized for. But it's not just about blitzing — it's identifying the appropriate situation and personnel for it. The Bucs defense absolutely couldn't get off the field on third down in the first half last week, especially early on.

Temperature at kickoff here in Tampa is 81 degrees but I gotta say, it feels a lot hotter out on the field. High is 83 today.
