So who exactly is calling plays for the Bucs offense? Apparently it's a mix of Dirk Koetter and the voices he hears -- "Little Dirk" and "Big Jim" (his dad). What does "Big Jim" say? "Whatever opposite of what I say," Koetter said, laughing.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Dirk Koetter's sick of answering questions about the Bucs' culture. "That's something that, for any progress to be made, that's going to be over a much longer period of time than three days." They have to focus on doing all the little things right and build it over time. "Like anything else, it starts with awareness."

This week, expect to see more of rookie Noah Spence, whose strength is rushing the passer. The Broncos show a lot of 11 personnel (one running back, one tight end, three wide receivers). Last week, the Rams showed a lot more 21 personnel (two running backs, a tight end and two wide receivers) which meant DaVonte Lambert, whose strength is stuffing the run, saw 78 percent snaps (51) vs Spence's 18 percent (12).

No sign of tight end Luke Stocker (ankle) here at Bucs practice. Also no Doug Martin (hamstring), Cecil Shorts (hamstring) or Robert Ayers (ankle). Center Joe Hawley (ankle) is back though.

Bucs defensive end Robert Ayers is still not practicing. As I noted yesterday, he does have the cast off his ankle, which is encouraging.

Winston-Siemian meeting is historic

The first QB drafted in 2015 (Jameis Winston) will face the last (Trevor Siemian) on Sunday. Only four such pairs have met before, per the Elias Sports Bureau, playing eight games between them with each side winning four. Oddly, the Chiefs have been involved in seven of the eight games, winning six.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith was asked about Dirk Koetter's comments about needing to overhaul their culture. "An old coach told me, 'You've gotta learn to stop losing before you can win.'"

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans has 17 first downs this season, more than any other player in the league. He's also caught 3 of 4 red zone targets this year (75 percent). Last year he caught just 2 of 13 (15.4 percent). Small sample size but noticeable improvement.

Outsiders: Buccaneers have work to do

Consecutive losses have Tampa Bay at 1-2 and trailing several likely wild-card contenders in the NFC. Per Football Outsiders, the Bucs' playoff odds are already below 25 percent. Playoff odds (Insider)

"He's big and fast," Aqib Talib said of Mike Evans. "He goes in the Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones category." He said Evans' big catch radius is what really jumps out on film. "You either have it or you don't."

Winston excited for Austin Seferian-Jenkins' future (0:21)

Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston was asked about the departure of Austin Seferian-Jenkins. "I know I was hurt because we spent so much time in the offseason just working. But I know Austin is going to grow up and Austin is going to do an amazing job in New York. I mean, he is an outstanding player. I'm excited for his future. Sometimes you fall down, bounce back and that's just life."

Not practicing for the Bucs today: RB Doug Martin (hamstring), DE Robert Ayers (ankle), TE Luke Stocker (ankle), WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring).

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Bucs defensive end Robert Ayers does not have a cast on his ankle anymore but he is not practicing with the defensive linemen today.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans has a shirt on today that says, "Heart of a lion." He's got a big test this week with Aqib Talib, whom regards as one of the most physical corners in the league. Likes to trash talk a little too.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Bucs defensive end Robert Ayers no longer has a cast on his ankle. Big smile on his face just now. Not so sure he's ready to be back practicing yet. He suffered an ankle injury the week of the Cardinals game. Tried to play through it and injured it.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston on Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian: "I think he's an amazing quarterback. I'm no quarterback guru, I've gotta focus on the defensive side of the ball, but he's been doing an amazing job and he's winning."

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

The Bucs have signed wide receiver Jonathan Krause to the practice squad. He was with the team during the preseason.
