Eli Apple had his ups and downs with Giants, who gave him a "clean slate" this offseason. He played better this year but they ultimately wanted to move on from the 2016 first-round pick. Saints are now on the hook for his remaining $1.1 million in base salary this season, but Giants will still have $2.3M in dead money on next year's ledger.

Giants' Shurmur: No regrets for 2-point attempt

The Giants' decision to go for a two-point conversion late in Monday night's loss at Atlanta was a situation coach Pat Shurmur said they discussed internally before the game.

OBJ 'liked' the 2-point call by Shurmur (0:17)
Eli can't convert on fourth down (0:26)
OBJ drops pass on 2-point conversion (0:28)

Another week, another struggle to score points for the Giants. It led to their fourth straight loss, 23-20, to the Atlanta Falcons. They remain tied for the worst record in the league at 1-6 with the 49ers and Cardinals.

Eli: 'Coach says go for 2, we go for 2' (0:25)
Shurmur wanted to be 'aggressive' on 2-point conversion (0:34)
Should the Giants have gone for 2 that early? (1:44)

Ryan throws for 379 yards, Falcons beat Giants 23-20

Matt Ryan threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Hall, Tevin Coleman broke loose on a 30-yard scoring run and the Atlanta Falcons added another chapter to New York's miserable season, beating the Giants 23-20 on Monday night.

The math backs up Pat Shurmur's decision to go for two down eight points with less than five minutes to go. Going for it then gives Shurmur an informational advantage. If the Giants convert, then on their next touchdown they know they only need to kick a PAT to take the lead (assuming no other scores). If they fail, which they did, they have an opportunity to go for it again to tie. The long and short of it: converting once is much more likely than failing twice.

Saquon Barkley has scored 183.5 PPR fantasy points in the first seven games of his NFL career. Only one running back (since 1950) scored more through that many games: Eric Dickerson (200.5).

OBJ just keeps his feet inbounds for TD (0:24)

With that touchdown, Saquon Barkley has reached the 20-point PPR fantasy threshold for the seventh consecutive game. He joins Todd Gurley II (2018) and DeMarco Murray (2014) as the only RBs since 1950 to score at least that many in each of their teams' first 7 games of a season.

Barkley pushes pile into the end zone for TD (0:25)
OBJ's big play puts him over 5,000 career receiving yards (0:36)

Odell Beckham just set a franchise record with his 23rd career 100-yard receiving game. He passed Amani Toomer. Beckham has five catches for 115 yards already.

Eli's scramble for the end zone falls just short (0:30)

Everyone expected a shootout, we have a defensive slugfest. Seven total sacks, including three by the Giants who were tied for the fewest in the NFL with seven entering this week. They still trail 10-3.

Eli finds OBJ for 26 yards (0:21)
