Robert Cromartie

CB | (0-0, 190) | Florida
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Four-year starter in high school and heavily recruited as elite cornerback. Played in nine of 11 games as a true freshman in 1998 with three starts. Recorded 20 tackles, four passes broken up and no interceptions. Started all 12 games in '99, finishing with 75-11-0. Missed first five games with an ankle in jury in 2000 but started the final eight games, recording 35-6-1. Redshirted in '01 after tearing his pectoral muscle in the preseason. Started all 13 games in '02, finishing with 74-8-0 with two forced fumbles and seven tackles for loss. Had 35 career starts.

Positives: Excellent foot quickness and change of direction. Can play off-man coverage. Fluid and smooth in turns. Comes out of his backpedal nicely and breaks on the short underneath routes. Steps up in big games.

Negatives: Height. Has battled injuries and could have a durability problem. Struggles to stay with receiver in turn-and-run situations. Not physical with jam.

Summary: Not a special player, but he has an outside shot as a nickel back.
