By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: High school All-American. Started twice as a true freshman in 1999 and every game from 2000 through '02. Has started 36 consecutive games. Had 13 tackles and broke up three passes in '99. Had 38-10 with four interceptions in 2000 and 74-10-5 in '01, when he also returned nine kickoffs for 162 yards. Won All-Big 12 honors in 2000 and '01. Had 62-6-2 in '02, when he also had 4½ tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. Impressed many scouts with a sound week of practice at the Senior Bowl. Positives: Good keying and diagnosing plays. Good ball reaction and hands. Will hit and tackle. Plays smart. Good athletic ability. Has a 40-inch vertical jump. Smart, aware and instinctive. Solid, does everything well in position. Plays faster when he is backed off or in bump-and-run coverage. Top intangibles. Productive with good ball skills, reactions and jumping ability. Strong in the weight room, as evidenced at the Combine, where he paced defensive backs with 19 reps of 225. Will hit and tackle.Negatives: Good but not special. Spindly. Does more shuffling and bailing than backpedaling. Plays loose and is late arriving in zone coverage. Questionable top-end and makeup speed. Lacks burst and acceleration. Average press corner. Lacks ability to backpedal and turn. Does not have great range. More quick than fast. Not very physical.Summary: Good bump-and-run corner in the mold of Kevin Smith.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
