By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: High school shotput champion. Attended Eastern Mississippi Community College in 1998 and '99. Came to Southern Mississippi in January 2000 but had both his knees scoped in the spring and redshirted in the fall for a team loaded with senior defensive linemen. Started every game as either a nose tackle or defensive tackle in '01. Had 60 tackles, including six for loss, and three sacks. Started nine-of-13 games in '02, making 63-7-11½ sacks and two passes broken up, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Positives: Has a thick, powerful body and is strong at the point of attack. A run stuffer and big hitter who is active in pursuit and a very good tackler, uses his hands well and has good power in bull-rush. Has a burst to close and good change of direction. Gets excellent leverage and moves well laterally. Strong, wrap-up tackler who gets under offensive linemen by staying low. Disruptive playmaker who can play one- and three-technique.Negatives: Undersized player who lacks pass rush and at times has trouble finding and seeing where the ball is going. Must improve his ability to disengage and shed blockers.Summary: Has durability questions and is not an NFL-caliber, two-gap defensive tackle. * Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
