By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Lettered in 1999 (17 tackles) and started every game in 2000 and '01. Had 104 tackles, two tackles for loss and three passes broken up in 2000; and 125-17-3 and six sacks in '01, when he led the Big Ten champions in tackles and won second-team All-Big Ten honors. Team captain and led the team in tackles in '02 with 122, including 12 tackles for loss, five sacks and four passes broken up. Positives: Has a nose for the ball and ability to key and diagnose. His face-up strength is good and he plays well in the box, especially against the inside run. Shows good awareness in zone defense. Is a top competitor who gives maximum effort every down. Relentless plugging gaps, and takes excellent angles. Great football intelligence. Excels on special-teams coverage units.Negatives: Could use his hands better, especially in coverage to control tight end. Doesn't always shed blocks quickly. Very stiff and struggles to change direction. Lacks strength and flexibility, but his lack of speed could be the most damning.Summary: Would make All-Intangibles Team on any level but isn't likely to be drafted unless it is very late because he is one of those guys who runs 5.05-5.1 and thinks and reacts 4.2. * Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
