Eddie Strong

LB | (0-0, 245) | Ole Miss
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Started three games in 1998, 10 games in '99 and every game in 2001. Redshirted in 2000 after suffering a stress fracture to his left foot. Had 65 tackles and one interception in 1998; 72 tackles, four passes broken up and one interception in '99; and 105-4-1 along with six tackles for loss and two sacks in '01. Missed the first two games of '02 with a sprained ankle but made 53 tackles, 6½ tackles for loss, 2½ sacks and broke up four passes in his next nine games.

Positives: Has played all three linebacker positions. Big, strong, physical player. He is a strong tackler. Movement is excellent. Gets in on a lot of plays. Blitz ability is a strong suit.

Negatives: Plays erect, doesn't use his hands and tries to protect his body. Is not a knee-bender and looks stiff and tight in coverage. Late reactor. Must see the play develop before he reacts. Forty time is horrible. Isn't a great student.

Summary: Didn't look fully healthy until the end of last season. Because he is a liability against the pass, he fits best as a base linebacker who leaves the field on third down unless he is used as a pass rusher and not in coverage.
