Joe Iorio

C | (0-0, 300) | Penn State
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Part of track and wrestling teams in high school. Walked on in 1999 and wound up starting five games. He was slowed and severely weakened by mononucleosis for much of the 2000 season but was strong enough to reclaim his starting job for the last two games. Kept starting job in '01. Academic All-Big Ten. Started all 12 games last fall.

Positives: First-team Academic All-American. Good initial quickness. Top worker who competes hard. Overachiever with great intangibles. Alert and aware against stunts. Good velocity on long snap. Aggressive and tenacious. Works hard in the weight room. Very, very smart and a good competitor. Plays on smarts, effort and toughness. Real battler.

Negatives: Lacks pop and explosiveness. Struggles to keep position and sustain blocks. Marginal flex and quickness to adjust and some hip stiffness. Tends to play tall. Limited sliding and adjusting. Accuracy is a concern on snaps. Not a very good athlete. Lacks agility and ability to bend knees and play with low leverage.

Summary: Ability to long-snap and attitude could allow him to last in the league.
