Demarco Mccleskey

RB | (0-0, 210) | Cincinnati
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Had a fine freshman season in 1998, playing in nine games and starting the final four, rushing 162 times for 861 yards and 11 touchdowns. Also had seven receptions for 24 yards. Not enrolled in school in '99. Returned in 2000 and played 10 games, starting five and missing two games with a hamstring injury. Rushed 121-500-4 and caught 8-74. Shared time with Ray Jackson in '01 but rushed 179-765-7 and caught 10-115. Was the team's featured back in '02 and had a big year, carrying 292-1,276-15 and racking up 29-352 receiving.

Positives: Has good size, is durable and can be a very effective inside runner when he forgets the dance steps and just slashes. Has pretty good run vision, power and balance. Catches the ball well and rarely fumbles.

Negatives: Lacks speed and acceleration and gets in trouble when he does too much east-west running and juking. Slow to hit the hole at times and lacks the speed to get outside. Blocking needs work and the effort in this area is not always there.

Summary: Has enough size and production to consider as a draft pick, as long as he is willing to run hard inside and learn to block better.
