By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Was a Prop 48 casualty in 1998, a backup in '99 and the team's top rusher the past three years. Had 26 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns in '99; had 225-1,008-8 in 2000; and had 268-1,244-12 in 10 games in '01, when he earned All-Mid-American Conference honors. Earned All-MAC honors again in '02 after carrying 332-1,618-12 and catching 22 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns.Positives: Merriweather is a big, durable, move-the-chains runner who has improved every year. Is very productive and durable, runs hard and is always going up the field. Has good balance and will gain yards after contact and fight to finish his runs. His run vision is improving.Negatives: Lacks speed and creativity as a runner. Cannot get outside and turn the corner. Gets caught from behind a lot. He is not used much in the passing game and does not relish blocking.Summary: Merriweather is a fine college back who may be a step too slow and not enough of an all-around back for the NFL.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
