Sean Berton

TE | (0-0, 279) | NC State
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Redshirted at West Virginia in 1998. Caught three passes for 16 yards in '99 and 14-126 and two touchdowns in 2000. Left West Virginia in '01 after new coach installed a spread offense that rarely used a tight end. Started nine of N.C. State's 13 games in '02, but missed the Duke game with an ankle injury. Was first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference with 20-175-1. Lined up at tight end, fullback, H-back and split wide. Played most of the year with the ankle injury before having screws inserted into his fractured ankle Nov. 25. Berton did return to play in the Gator Bowl victory over Notre Dame and had 5-40-1.

Positives: Has NFL size, can catch and is a good blocker on the move. Has great versatility in playing multiple positions.

Negatives: Lacks strength, speed and agility. Is not flexible and gets very little leverage. Has marginal athleticism.

Summary: Lacks top speed but is one of the better blocking tight ends in the draft and could be a late-rounder.
