Dan Curley

TE | (0-0, 254) | Eastern Washington
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Played in eight games, started five and missed three with an injury in 1998. Played in every game and started eight in '99. Redshirted in 2000 after fracturing his right kneecap in fall practice. Came back in '01 to start the opener but broke a bone near his left wrist, and the injury required multiple surgeries. Then an infection that caused him to lose weight set in and kept him out of action through spring practice and into the fall of '02. Played well once he got back, starting with the Idaho State game, and finished the year catching 31 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns. Weight can fluctuate between 230 to 265. Playing weight is about 240-245.

Positives: Good athlete who catches the ball very well. Has some speed and a little run after the catch. Not a power blocker but can Velcro his man and is not that easy to shed.

Negatives: Possible medical risk or reject. Had six procedures on his lower left arm, which practically has been surgically reconstructed. Lacks the strength and power to get much movement as an in-line blocker. Will probably have to be an H-back or receiving tight end. Could improve upper-body strength.

Summary: Could catch on as an H-back if he can pass a physical, given all the surgeries he had on his left lower arm. Good workout at the Scouting Combine works in his favor.
