TE | (0-0, 255) | BYU
By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: Played football, basketball and baseball in high school. Spent 1997 and '98 on his religious mission. Came to Brigham Young in '99 and was on the practice squad. Caught four passes for 50 yards in 2000; and had 5-79 and three touchdowns in '01 as BYU's No. 3 tight end. Was BYU's No. 2 tight end in '02, which means he saw extensive action and was almost a 12th starter. Caught 18-192-5. His brother, Spencer, has played for the Carolina Panthers.Positives: Reid is a good position blocker with good hands who does well on special teams. Has 37-inch vertical and showed much more athleticism than teammate and BYU's No. 1 tight end Spencer Nead at the Combine. Negatives: A pumped-up 250-pounder who, despite good weight-room numbers, lacks pop and power as an inline blocker as well as acceleration as a receiver. Will be 26 in May.Summary: Might catch on as an H-back type if he does well on special teams.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
