By Pro Football WeeklyNotes: High school All-American. Played in 10 games in 1999 as a true freshman, played every game in 2000 and '01. Caught two passes for 28 yards in 1999; 6-80 and one touchdown in 2000; and 12-250-1 in '01, when he made his first start. Had a good spring and won the starting job going into fall practice. Started 12-of-12 games in '02, catching 41-631-5, and was named all-conference. Did not hurt himself at the Senior Bowl but couldn't run at the Scouting Combine because of a hernia.Positives: Adequate size and good smarts. Competitor who is workmanlike, durable and tough. Good, soft and natural hands. Can adjust and catch in space. OK position blocker who is big and physical. Works to block and is dedicated. Gets downfield. Quick to reach and hook block. Gets good fits and turns. Can position and wall off. Has thick legs and the speed to get deep and run after the catch.Negatives: Average strength and athletic ability. Not great blocking and catching and is not nasty, quick or fast. Is a stiff, position finesse blocker. Has a poor stance and is slow off the line of scrimmage. Glider and slider who strides and lumbers as a route runner. Is not fluid and lacks initial quickness. Lacks power as a base blocker.Summary: Decent all-around tight end who has some upside.* Player biographies are provided by Pro Football Weekly.
