Curtis Fagan

WR | (0-0, 173) | Oklahoma
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Redshirted as a cornerback in 1998. Moved to wide receiver when the team went to the spread offense in '99 and caught 30 passes for 382 yards while starting four times. Had his best year in 2000 with 40-567 and seven touchdowns. Caught 31-275-1 with a long of 26 yards a year ago. Also returned 45 punts for 337 yards and six kickoffs for 145 yards. Started five of 13 games in '02, catching 30-393-3 and averaging 13.1 yards per catch. Carried four times for 48 yards with a long of 39.

Positives: Good slot inside receiver. Very good hands as a punt returner.

Negatives: Can improve strength and explosion. Lacks burst to separate. Needs more reps and focus. On the stiff side and does not have great work habits. Needs to be mentored closely because his performance can slip by hanging with the wrong crowd. Slow off the line of scrimmage. Struggles to catch the low ball. Does not have great speed and suddenness. Likes to cradle the ball. More quick than fast. Lacks size, explosiveness and big-play ability.

Summary: Worth bringing to camp. Could be developed into a return man, but must improve his size, playing strength, route-running skills and attention to detail to make it.
