Kassim Osgood

WR | (0-0, 208) | San Diego State
By Pro Football Weekly

Notes: Transfer from California Polytechnic State University, where he began his career as a defensive back in 1998. Moved to offense in '99 and caught eight passes for 95 yards with one touchdown. Came into his own in 2000, catching 83-1,337-14. Named first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection in '02, when he caught 108-1,552-8. Combined with teammate J.R. Tolver to set an NCAA record for combined catches in a season (236). Averaged 119.4 yards per game.

Positives: Great size and quickness. Big, tall, smart receiver who can reach and pluck the ball at times. Good skills. Has separating quickness. Is smart, productive and has a lot of upside. Great height with long 33-inch arms and soft, big 10-inch hands. Has smarts and good character. Has athletic ability and showed potential against UCLA (10-145-1). He catches the ball well and was a dominant player on the Division I-AA level in 2000. Good hands. Has feel for getting open and shows toughness over the middle.

Negatives: Average inside and outside. Lets up out of break. Does not have great speed or consistency. Overly emotional and too excitable. Doesn't get a good push off the ball and holds his hands near his body. Struggles to separate.

Summary: Not a natural receiver and still raw but was superproductive and could be a first-day pick.
