Follow live: Pageau's goals send game to OT
Jean-Gabriel Pageau (hat trick) scored twice in three minutes, giving the Senators new life after the Rangers wasted a two-goal lead.
No one wants to be the favorite in the series between the Rangers and Senators. Even though the Senators have home-ice advantage and the Rangers are a powerhouse, both are playing down expectations. Because: the playoffs. Key in Game 2 will be the power play – and if the Rangers give Erik Karlsson time to load up from the point, the Senators stand a better chance of improving on their inadequate 1-for-4 in Game 1.
How the Capitals can rebound
They played a tight game and generated tons of chances, but the Capitals are still down 1-0 in the series. However, they can get back in this thing by making three key changes ahead of Game 2.
Capitals coach Barry Trotz told forward Paul Carey yesterday he was entering the lineup for Game 2 vs. Penguins. Replaces Brett Connolly in the lineup. Brings more speed to the lineup against the fast Penguins.
Crosby, Ovechkin bring out best in each other
Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin are co-writing another thrilling chapter in the rivalry that defines their generation. "They're linked like Mario and Gretzky," says Pittsburgh's Matt Cullen.
Sekera, Maroon score in Oilers' Game 2 win.
Andrej Sekera and Patrick Maroon tally goals as the Oilers defeat the Ducks 2-1 to take a 2-0 series lead.
No experience necessary for McDavid, Edmonton
Connor McDavid and the Oilers aren't intimidated by playing on the postseason stage or against veteran teams like the Anaheim Ducks. "We're comfortable in this position," says the 20-year-old captain.
Tarasenko scores twice in Blues' win.
Vladimir Tarasenko ties the game late in the first period with a power-play goal and then gives St. Louis the game-winning goal in the third to tie the series with Nashville.
Even though their power play misfired and goalie Jake Allen was less than stellar overall, the Blues escaped with a 3-2 win in Game 2. They failed to take advantage of the Predators' lack of discipline, going 1-for-5 on the power play, which can't happen again -- a wimpy power-play unit in the playoffs equals a quick exit. Plus, the Blues will need someone other than a resurgent Vladimir Tarasenko -- who was a beast -- and Colton Parayko to come up big. The Predators are just too deep.

The Blackhawks send goalie Scott Darling to the Carolina Hurricanes for a 2017 3rd-round pick. This is good value for Chicago since Darling was likely leaving as an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Carolina gets an early window to negotiate a deal with Darling, the best free agent goalie available. It appears the Hurricanes are finally addressing their goaltending, a first step towards getting in the playoffs next season.
