Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon scored a shorthanded goal for a 2-0 lead over the Bruins. It was MacKinnon's seventh goal of the season. He has the ability to be an elite player in this league but this is the season he needs to elevate his game. The Avalanche need him to be that type of player in order for the team to have success.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly provided an update regarding the Vegas NHL expansion franchise getting its trademark declined. He said the decision was a surprise but still expects the Golden Knights to ultimately get registered. "Most importantly, from our perspective nothing changes," Daly said. "The franchise will go forward with that name and that logo. We have every expectation that we'll ultimately get that registration."

Matt Duchene has 10 goals this season, all on the road, for the Colorado Avalanche. Once he gets on a roll, goals should start to come in bunches. He's highly skilled and will go into traffic to score. He has great hands around the net and just proved it on that goal to give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead over the Bruins. He can flat out fly and is an exciting player to watch. He's the type of player that will do anything for his teammates.

Just another note on Garbutt for you CBA fans. His actual AAV is $1.8 million but counts only $900,000 on Ducks cap because Dallas retained the other $900,000 in a trade with Chicago previously. Garbutt was dealt by the Hawks to Anaheim last January for Jiri Sekac. Point is, if a team claims Garbutt on Friday he counts only 900k as a cap hit
