After curiously acquiring netminder Ben Bishop Los Angeles has curiously added 39-year-old Jarome Iginla from Colorado. Iginla has just eight goals this season and the Kings need to get faster and ideally younger neither of which really suggests Iginla a fit even if this does reunite the highly respected veteran with head coach Darryl Sutter. Still Iginla did register 81 goals in three seasons prior to this season and maybe he ignites a slumbering Anze Kopitar.

The Florida Panthers woke up Wednesday just one point out of a playoff spot and by noon had added one of the top remaining rental players on the market in Thomas Vanek. The 33-year-old isn't exactly the epitome of clutch when it come to the playoffs but the right winger was having a nice season in Detroit with 38 points in 48 games and will fit in nicely in the top nine and on the power play for a Panthers team playing its best hockey after a season of tumult.

The San Jose Sharks bolstered their lineup with the acquisition Tuesday night of winger Jannik Hansen from the Vancouver Canucks. In return, the Canucks got prospect Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional fourth-round pick this year. About that condition, the pick becomes a first-round selection if the Sharks win the Cup. Hansen is not a rental, he's got another year left on his deal next season at a $2.5-million cap hit. He's a versatile, two-way player who can slide up and down the top three lines in San Jose. Nice pickup.

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Michal Rozsival and forward Jordin Tootoo to one-year extensions. Rozsival will earn $650,000 next season while Tootoo will make $700,000. But the real news here is that these signings help Chicago fulfill its expansion draft exposure requirements for June. Both players will most definitely be exposed. Each NHL team must expose at least 2 forwards, 1 defenseman and 1 goalie who meet the criteria as spelled out by the league. Chicago is good now on that front.
