On the fence about watching Winter Olympic men's hockey without NHL players? Sweden just gave you a considerable enticement: Frölunda HC's Rasmus Dahlin, the brilliant 17-year-old defenseman and expected 2018 first overall pick, made the cut for the national team. He joins a roster with several familiar names to NHL fans, including goalie Jhonas Enroth, who last played for the Los Angeles Kings; Viktor Stalberg, formerly of the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators; and Linus Omark, perhaps best known for his viral YouTube shootout goals … less so for his time with the Edmonton Oilers. Sweden might be the prohibitive favorite for gold.

Czech Republic named its men's Olympic ice hockey team on Monday, and it was bad news for Jaromir Jagr fans. Jagr, currently on injured reserve and reportedly looking for a way out of his deal with the Calgary Flames, was not included on the 25-player roster for the Pyeongchang Games. Among those that were: Former NHL players Martin Erat (of that infamous Capitals/Predators trade), Jiri Sekac and Roman Cervenka, as well as "The Other" Michal Jordan and Tomas Mertl, who we assume is the evil Mirror Universe version of Tomas Hertl. The Czechs are in Group A with Canada, Switzerland and host South Korea.
