Wings blue-liner collides with Cammalleri

DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Chris Chelios left Monday night's 3-2 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Kings with a right knee injury.

Detroit coach Dave Lewis said Chelios would have an MRI exam Tuesday.

Chelios was injured when he was checked by Los Angeles' Mike Cammalleri late in the first period. Chelios skated off under his own power after falling to the ice and grabbing the knee.

He returned for the first shift of the second period but was forced to go back to the Detroit dressing room shortly after.

Chelios, 41, has a goal and seven assists in 29 games this season -- his 21st in the NHL. He helped set up Brendan Shanahan's goal that gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.
