Toronto unsure when forward will return

TORONTO -- Maple Leafs forward Owen Nolan had laser eye surgery Monday to repair a torn retina in his left eye.

Toronto was unsure how long Nolan would be out of the lineup.

Nolan didn't return to Saturday night's game against Buffalo
after the Sabres Jay McKee high-sticked him in the face early in
the first period.

Nolan has nine goals and 19 assists.

The Maple Leafs also announced that goalie Ed Belfour pulled a
muscle in Sunday's practice and is day-to-day.

He did not play Monday. Backup Trevor Kidd was the starter, and Mikael Tellqvist was recalled from AHL St. John's in case of injury.
