MONTREAL -- The great outdoors agrees with the Montreal Canadiens.
The Canadiens will hold their first outdoor practice Jan. 25, a
move that comes two months after they played the Oilers in Edmonton
in the first outdoor game in NHL history.
The practice will be held on a rink at Place des Nations on St.
Helene's Island across from downtown Montreal. It will coincide
with the city's annual winter festival.
The Canadiens beat the Oilers 4-3 in the Heritage Classic at
Commonwealth Stadium on Nov. 22 before more than 57,000 fans. The
game, a celebration of hockey's roots, began with the temperature
at 1 below zero.
