Spacek missed 24 games with groin injury

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets activated defenseman Jaroslav Spacek on Wednesday.

Spacek, 29, missed 24 games because of a groin injury sustained at Nashville on Nov. 26.

In 22 games this season, he has eight assists and 31 penalty minutes.

A six-year NHL veteran, Spacek set club records for assists (36) and points (45) by a defenseman last year. He also had nine goals and 70 penalty minutes in 81 games.

Spacek has 34 goals and 114 assists in 384 NHL games with Florida, Chicago and Columbus.

A member of the 2002 Czech Republic Olympic team, Spacek also helped his country capture the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Games.
