Roster almost finalized

Team Canada will announce its roster for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey on Saturday at Hockey Canada headquarters in Calgary, sources have told ESPN.com.

A spokesman for Team Canada was not immediately available for comment, but a source said the 26-man roster (23 skaters and three goalies) was being finalized Friday.

Wayne Gretzky heads the Team Canada contingent. He's being assisted by Edmonton Oilers general manager Kevin Lowe and Vancouver director of player personnel Steve Tambellini.

The tournament gets underway Aug. 30 and ends Sept. 14 with a championship game in Toronto.

Team USA, the defending World Cup champion, will announce its roster May 20 on the 6 p.m. ET edition of SportsCenter. The Team Sweden roster will be announced at a press conference in Stockholm, Sweden, on Monday, May 17.
