Lemieux: Coach Olczyk not reason Pens are winless

The Penguins are still winless. And although primary owner/player Mario Lemieux is frustrated, he said Monday not to expect any coaching moves.

Lemieux added that firing coach Eddie Olczyk is not something the team is thinking about.

"We have confidence in the coaching staff," Lemieux told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It's the players on the ice who have to do the job. If they don't do the job, it doesn't matter who's leading the ship."

Lemieux blamed the team's "stupid penalties" as the main reason for their lowly 0-4-4 start.

Said Lemieux: "The system we have works well when everybody does their job."

"You can keep telling the players and, if they don't do it, then you have to change the personnel," he told the newspaper. When a reporter asked him if he thought there was a need for the team to make personnel changes, Lemieux answered, "I'm not sure."

The Penguins start an important three-game homestand Tuesday with games against the Florida, Atlanta and Carolina, respectively.
