Forwards recalled from AHL Bridgeport

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- The New York Islanders recalled left winger Sean Bergenheim and center Wyatt Smith from AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday and inserted both into the lineup against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Bergenheim and Smith filled in for injured forwards Oleg Kvasha (ankle) and Shawn Bates (hamstring). Kvasha is day-to-day after he was injured Saturday against the Flyers in the opener of the home-and-home series. Bates is on the injured list.

Jeremy Colliton played in two games with the Islanders during Bates' absence but the center was returned to Bridgeport on Saturday.

Smith had seven goals in 83 previous NHL games with Phoenix and Nashville. He was signed as a free agent by the Islanders on Aug. 10.

Bergenheim played 18 games with the Islanders during the 2003-04 season, recording a goal and an assist in his only NHL experience.
