Rucinsky to have surgery on finger, out a month

TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Rangers left wing Martin Rucinsky
will have surgery on his broken finger within the next week and is
expected to be out for a month.

Rucinsky sustained a multiple fracture of the index finger on
his left hand when he was slashed by Florida's Jay Bouwmeester in
the third period of New York 3-2 shootout loss to the Panthers.
Bouwmeester was not penalized.

The Rangers feared that Rucinsky would be lost for the season
but he could return to the playoffs, which began in late April.
Including Saturday night's contest at Tampa Bay, they had 12 games

New York recalled left wing Alexandre Giroux from Hartford of
the AHL and he made his NHL debut Saturday against the Lightning.
He 34 goals and 25 assists in 64 games with Hartford.
