Preds re-sign Erat to two-year deal, avoid arbitration

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Martin Erat will no longer have to attend an arbitration hearing scheduled for July 31.

The Nashville Predators signed the restricted free-agent left winger to a two-year contract on Monday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Erat, 24, scored a career-high 20 goals and added 29 assists this past season.

A seventh-round pick of the Predators in 1999, Erat has 46 goals and 93 assists in 263 games.

Erat played for the Czech Republic at both the Winter Olympics and World Championships in 2006. During the NHL lockout in 2004-05, Erat collected 20 goals and 23 assists in 48 games with HC Hame Zlin of the Czech Republic Extraleague.
