Senators, Neil agree to three-year, $3.3 million deal

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators and winger Chris Neil agreed to a three-year, $3.3 million contract Wednesday, avoiding arbitration.

Neil is coming off a career season during which he earned $585,000. He set new highs in goals (16), assists (17) and points (33) while also tallying 204 penalty minutes -- enough to make him the team's all-time leader in that category.

He was one of three players to record at least 15 goals and 150 penalty minutes last season.

Neil was selected in the sixth round of the 1998 draft by Ottawa. In 301 career games, he has 40 goals, 76 points and 776 penalty minutes.
