Stajan signs two-year, $1.75 deal with Maple Leafs

TORONTO -- Matt Stajan and the Toronto Maple Leafs reached common ground just in the nick of time.

On the opening day of training camp, the Maple Leafs re-signed
the center to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but TSN of Canada reported
the deal was worth $1.75 million.

Stajan, a restricted free agent who made $805,600 last season,
will receive $800,000 in 2006-07 and $950,000 the following
campaign, according to TSN.

A second-round pick in 2002, Stajan recorded 15 goals and 12
assists in 80 games last season, his second full campaign with
Toronto. The 22-year-old Ontario native has collected 30
tallies and 55 points in 150 career contests.
